Information & Assistance (225-923-8000 ext. 202 and/or 218)


Trained counselors are available to answer questions, provide a thorough assessment of needs, make appropriate recommendation of services, as well as refer individuals to other COA-related services in addition to other agencies.

Services include:

  • Comprehensive in-home assessments
  • Medicaid applications
  • Distribution of donated medical equipment (when available)
  • Case/Care Management
  • Utility bill assistance through Project Care
  • Assistance with legal concerns
  • Seasonal distribution of fans and blankets
  • Cable bill assistance through Cox Communications
  • Insurance counseling through Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
  • Entry point for digital television converter boxes (analog signal to digital)

 

Family Caregiver Support (225-923-8000 ext. 221)


Assistance is available for caregivers tending to individuals age 60+ as well as for grandparents (or other relatives) providing care to children age 18 years of age or younger.

Services include:

  • Educational/Training workshops
  • Information and Assistance
  • In-home respite care
  • Personal care
  • Case Management

 

Personal Care/Homemaker (225-923-8000 ext. 323)


Trained caregivers provide in-home personal care for medically dependent seniors who are temporarily disabled.

In-home, hourly services include:

  • Moderate housecleaning; laundry; meal preparation
  • Personal grooming; errands; respite care

 

Health Screenings (225-923-8000 ext. 249)


Trained nurses perform professional health screenings at EBRCOA's various Senior Centers located throughout the parish - offering helpful suggestions on maintaining good health.

Screenings include:

  • Immunizations
  • Monitoring blood sugar levels
  • Nutrition/Dietary counseling
  • General health education
  • Home visits for homebound patients
  • Medication reviews/monitoring, medical and social referrals
