Baton Rouge, LA – April 26, 2018 – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) is proud to announce its first quarter impact numbers. In an effort to be transparent and accountable to the public, the agency has released its quarterly numbers to showcase the impact both the tax millage, federal, and state funds have had on the lives of seniors in East Baton Rouge Parish.
The EBRCOA has more than doubled Meals on Wheels deliveries! This quarter, we have delivered 72,610 meals as compared to 31,752 meals in the first quarter of 2017. As a result of the tax millage, the agency was able to eliminate the Meals on Wheels waiting list, which fulfills the commitment the agency made with the taxpayers last year. In addition to serving more seniors in all of our programs, several new programs have been launched including Yoga/Tai Chi, senior citizen computer training, and the largest senior citizen food pantry in East Baton Rouge Parish. “ We are excited about the expansion of our existing programs and the introduction of new programs that are on the cutting edge of providing senior care. All of this would not have been possible without the support of the community and we look forward to even bigger and better programs in the year to come,” stated Chief Executive Officer Tasha ClarkAmar.
