Baton Rouge, LA – May 22, 2018 – The East Baton Rouge Parish Council on Aging (EBRCOA) is excited to announce that the Charles R. Kelly Community Center is celebrating the opening of the Charles R. Kelly Senior Center, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 3535 Riley St., Baton Rouge, LA 70805.
For many years the Charles R. Kelly Community Center has been a feeding site for seniors via a partnership with the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging. However, as a result of the voter approved tax millage, the Center has been approved by the State of Louisiana to operate as a fully functioning Senior Center. As a Senior Center, seniors who visit Charles R. Kelly Center will not only have access to hot meals, but also have access to a computer lab and technology training, yoga/tai chi and aerobics, health educational seminars, budgeting/financial management seminars, and many other senior centered activities and events.
Special thanks to Councilwoman Erika Green for supporting this expansion and Baker Chief of Police Carl Dunn for preparing food for this celebration.
“This is a great day for the seniors in this community.” said EBRCOA Chief Executive Officer Tasha Clark-Amar. “Our commitment to the Charles R. Kelly EBRCOA Senior Center is as strong as ever. Offering expanded services will have a greater impact on life outcomes for seniors and those who care for seniors in a much needed area of our parish.
