EBR Council on Aging is going to War on Senior Hunger.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (11/06/2017) – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging announced today that it will host Combat Senior Food Deserts: Going to War on Senior Hunger. This free event aims to provide seniors in East Baton Rouge Parish healthy food options such as fruits, vegetables and dry goods. In partnership with State Representative C. Denise Marcelle, Senator Regina A. Barrow, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, Lousiana Seafood Board, LA. Dept. of Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain, The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan the agency will also be providing Louisiana Fish and Shrimp on a first come, first serve basis. The event will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Capital City Event Center (6955 Florida Blvd.) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Seniors will be able to drive-thru the event to receive assistance. In order to be eligible to participate in the event you must be 60 years or older. In addition, you must pre-register at the EBRCOA Main Administration Building beginning October 30, 2017 and ending November 7, 2017 in between the times of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
