East Baton Rouge Council on Aging Begins Annual “Beat the Heat” Fan & Air Conditioner Distribution

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (05/29/2019) – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging announced today that it would begin the distribution of fans and air conditioner units as part of its Annual “Beat the Heat” Fan & Air Conditioner Distribution. Due to record-breaking heat and high temperatures, EBRCOA is providing a Fan or an Air Conditioner to qualified seniors. The agency criteria will determine who will receive the donated items.

East Baton Rouge Council on Aging Closed Friday, May 10 Due to Severe Rain and Flooding

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (05/09/2019) – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging announced today that due to severe rain and flooding in our area all EBR Council on Aging Senior Center locations and Lotus Pantry will be closed on Friday, May 10 2019. The agency advises all seniors to stay off the roads and stay tuned to local news for any news alerts or changes regarding site-re-openings. The agency will continue to provide essential meals to Meals on Wheels seniors. The agency advises for any medical emergencies to call 9-1-1.

East Baton Rouge Council on Aging Purchases the Gus Young Fire Station

Baton Rouge, LA.- February 28, 2019 - The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) is proud to announce the agency purchased the Gus Young Fire Station located at 3820 Gus Young Avenue. The property will be the site of EBRCOA’s Intergenerational Center and used to promote the “Age-Less” Program. The mission of the “Age-Less” Program is to bring both seniors and youth of the community together for various activities or programs that increase cooperation and interaction between two generations.

East Baton Rouge Council on Aging to Host Medicare Informational

Baton Rouge, LA.- February 18, 2019 - The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA), in partnership with the Louisiana Health Insurance Information Program (LA-SHIIP), and the Social Security Administration, will host a free Medicare Brunch and Learn for all seniors in East Baton Rouge Parish age 60 and over, on Wednesday, February 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the EBRCOA Capital City Event Center located at 6955 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge.

Government Accountability Office Visit East Baton Rouge Council on Aging

Baton Rouge, LA.- February 5, 2019 - The East Baton Rouge Parish Council on Aging will receive a visit from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), February 6 and 7. The GAO is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for congress to help the government save money and work more efficiently by examining how taxpayer dollars are spent. The GAO was commissioned by congress to examine the Council on Aging based on its successful nutrition program for older adults.
