BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Multifamily Housing Programs has awarded a $3.2 million grant to the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging.
This funding under HUD’s Section 202 program supports affordable housing for seniors. It can be used for new construction or repairs. It also provides rental assistance. EBRCOA said it is one of 11 organizations nationwide to receive this grant.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (01/16/2025) – The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) is thrilled to announce that they have been awarded a $3.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Multifamily Housing Programs. The HUD grant is awarded to nonprofit organizations to support new development or rehabilitation of affordable multifamily and rental assistance for seniors. EBRCOA is one of eleven national recipients!

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Multifamily Housing Programs announced today it has awarded $97 million in grants to non-profit organizations to support new development or rehabilitation of affordable multifamily homes and rental assistance for seniors. In addition, HUD has awarded $40 million in grants to increase the availability of service coordinators who connect seniors and disabled persons with critical resources.
